Film editor in Sicily

Editing is where a film finds its final shape. Luca Carrera has edited features, documentaries, series and short films since 2004, in Santa Venerina near Catania or remotely.

Editing for cinema, documentary and series

In fiction the work starts from the script and looks for the rhythm of each scene and performance. In observational and archive documentary the film is written in the cutting room, inside hours of footage. In series, what matters is continuity across episodes and keeping to delivery dates.

How the edit runs

  • Ingest and organisation: verified backup, audio sync, proxies and bins organised by scene or theme.
  • Assembly and rough cut: a complete first structure to discuss with the director.
  • Working cuts: reviews with director and producers, remotely too, with frame-accurate notes.
  • Picture lock and turnover: EDL, XML and AAF for sound, music and VFX.

After picture lock the same studio can handle colour grading, compositing and delivery: see all stages on the film post-production in Sicily page.

FAQ

Do you edit short films and first features?

Yes. Shorts and first features are often the projects where editing makes the biggest difference.

Can we work remotely?

Yes: footage is shared as proxies and reviews happen online. Many productions come to the studio only for key sessions.
